My inner child’s sweet tooth was delighted to find a bariatric diet snack with 110-calories and 17g of protein and 11g carbs. Check out our find! In this product review we examine a low calorie high protein hot cocoa and biscotti Italian cookies.
Biscotti and Hot Cocoa, a Bariatric Diet Snack
Biscotti and hot cocoa are a dessert made for each other. “Biscotti” is Italian for ‘twice-cooked’ in English. These cookies are baked twice so they turn out dry and crunchy. Traditionally, Italians dip their biscotti in sweet wine but I prefer mine submerged in hot cocoa, like the chocolate fudge chip biscotti that I dunked in cinnamon hot chocolate tonight.
But I am not going to share the recipe with you! That’s because I ordered these Chocolate Fudge Chip Biscotti and Cinnamon Hot Chocolate online at the BariatricPal Store. And truth be told they are pretty darn good: For just 110-calories I enjoyed TWO biscotti and a mug of creamy hot cocoa as an occasional bariatric diet snack. That surely beats the regret of indulging in a 400-calorie snack of biscotti and hot cocoa at the coffee shop!

The Bottom Line on Bariatric Diet Snacking
The bariatric diet primarily should be a whole foods diet consisting of “real food.” But the occasional bariatric friendly snacks can keep us from reaching for the “bad stuff.” They’re virtually guilt-free.
I also find that not always depriving myself prevents me from going on a binge eat later on.
Ideally we would home cook our bariatric diet foods from scratch, like my Cinnamon Bun Protein Pancakes. But we don’t always have the time or energy for baking. So I am glad there are healthy grab-and-go snacks from which we can choose.
