I had lost my inner peace and happiness, a reason to smile so-to-speak. I don’t mean that I walked around never cracking a smile. Obviously there were good days and social situations in which I chatted away and laughed along. By losing a reason to smile, I mean losing confidence in life and in myself.
Too many stressors came one after another like a marching band in a parade and it took its toll. Unexpected serious illness, deaths in the family, bad breakups of relationships, change in financial status, and moving home were overwhelming.
Have You Lost a Reason to Smile?
You might have stress from multiple different areas in your life, too. It could be at work or at home — or both. To top it off, you might get back into comfort foods and emotional eating as a coping mechanism. So you have weight regain and crippling anxiety about the way that you look. Maybe you feel every time you look in the mirror that you’re never going to be happy with yourself again.
We all have stages in our life like this. Life situations pile on top of us, until it seems we carry the weight of the world upon our shoulders. But as I say, time is far too short not to live a life we love. So I want to share with you how I found a reason to smile again. Keep reading to learn what you can do to get you smile back for good.
Wake Up with PMA
A positive mental attitude PMA is something we all need to cultivate. But how do we often start the day? We start it with a lot of stress and anxiety. It begins by not even wanting to get out of bed in the morning. All we can think about is the troubles of the day that are probably going to lie ahead of us. So instantly we’re starting our day on a negative note, which is only going to set us up for this bad energy that we feel like we’re surrounded by all of the time. So, the first thing you need to focus on, is actually getting yourself into a routine, which starts the night before. Shower and get into bed an hour before you intend to go to sleep. Turn off all technology, unless you find it easier to go to sleep with the TV on in the background. Then, focus on having a good breakfast, perhaps going for a walk, and drinking two glasses of water. This combined with a quick shower and a simple beauty routine will leave you fresh and ready to tackle the day. From then on out, try and take everything that you do with a pinch of salt. Don’t take situations too seriously, and always look on the bright side of life.
Change Yourself for the Better
There’s a lot of controversy around this one. Many people assume that we shouldn’t change anything about ourselves to physically improve our appearance. Some people believe that we should focus on loving ourselves as we are. But we know all too well that this is easier said than done, and sometimes a little touch up here and there is going to make all the difference to how you feel about yourself. We’re not talking about major changes, just a little something that will allow you to smile again. On the subject of smiling, one major insecurity that people have is their smile. Some people are blessed with a perfectly straight smile, some of us are not so lucky. So if you missed out on treatment when you were younger, or perhaps a new issue has come up that has led you to hate your smile, we’re here to help regain your ability to smile again. From getting braces, to have gaps bridged, it’s a key area of your face to work on. Not only for aesthetic reasons, but for your own health as well. If your teeth aren’t growing the right way, or perhaps one has fallen out, it can make your mouth feel so uncomfortable. There are other non-surgical interventions that you can use to make you feel beautiful in the face, all you have to do is go to your local day spa. Facials are the best way to refresh your face, and there are now treatments that work alongside it that will benefit your skin. Dermaplaning is one that has become more popular as of recent months. It involves removing the hair off your face with a small scalpel knife, which also takes off three weeks worth of dead skin. Your face looks and feels so smooth afterwards!
Surround Yourself with Positivity
Positivity is all that you need in your life, but often it’s not as easy to get as you might think. When you’re not surrounded by the right people, trying to find any source of positivity can be hard, especially when you can’t draw it from within. So to surround yourself with positivity, you need to find new people to interact with. If you feel like your social circle is a bit thin on the ground, then there are plenty of ways that you can introduce yourself to new people. Joining classes, going to the gym, joining fun runs… anything like that can get you around the right type of people with a positive mindset. Family are also an excellent source of positivity. They will know you better than anyone, so talking to them about your problems can really be therapeutic. Hopefully they will be full of positivity to pass on to you.
Let Go of Negativity
If you feel like all you’re surrounded by negativity, then you need to find ways that you can isolate yourself from it, and focus on your own positive mental attitude. If you’re living with someone at the minute who is always down in the dumps, and you feel like it’s rubbing off on you, try and get them to find their enjoyment in life. Go out and do something fun, and take the both of you away from those negative thoughts. If you feel like it’s your friends that are the problem, don’t be afraid to cut people out and make your numbers shorter. Not everyone in your life is good for you!
