Obesity 53

Obesity is a disease that is complex (U.S. National Library of Medicine). First, there are many causes of obesity in adulthood and child obesity in America and globally. Next, the effect on health is that excess weight causes a multitude of related illnesses, from chronic conditions to fatal diseases. Add to that, stigma and social issues. Then we begin to see how obesity treatment requires a multifaceted approach -- and has been sorely underserved as proven by current statistics. In 2016 nearly 30% of the world's population are either obese or overweight (Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation). And being obese or overweight remains a worldwide epidemic despite institutional efforts to find the cure. Despite all that, many people are successful at permanent weight loss. It's up to each of us, individually, to take control of our health and our lives. Self-education on our physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of self and our relationships (whether to food, people, or activities) is the means to empower us to do just that!

Too Much Sitting Causes Obesity — What to Do About It!

It seems a common-sense deduction that too much sitting causes obesity. But now we have reliable science to that back-up.
