If you’re like most people, you created a few New Year’s resolutions.  And if you’re like most people, despite your good intentions those resolutions have fallen by the wayside. 3 People You Need to Tune Out on the Path of Self Love

We suffer from an unfortunate misconception. We tend to think of self love and vanity as the same thing. They are, in reality, very different. Where vanity is blindness to one’s own faults and an overestimation of what we bring to the world, self love means recognizing the worst in ourselves and committing to be […]

Love Yourself Thin with Radical Self-Talk

There is mind and there is matter. If you wish to move the matter, you’ll need to tune up your mind. In this case the matter is that inner tube just above your waist. And if you wish to move it, you’ll need to get your thinking straight. Our human nature is prone to negative self-talk, […]

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Weight!

Weight loss success begins with believing. If you have a self-defeating attitude, reframing your thoughts might be the injection you need to turn things around. Identity Crisis after Weight Loss

The benefits of weight loss are well-documented. People enjoy better health, self-esteem rises, and a new lifestyle begins. The satisfaction can be enormous, but there are some who struggle with the adjustment. They are strangers to themselves and not at all the “me” they once knew. The triumph of self-improvement turns into identity crisis and […]

Negative Emotions That Accompany Weight-Loss Surgery

Self-Perception and Obesity Obesity is both an emotional and physical condition. It promotes apprehension and personal doubt that can spark self-analysis about weight gain and how it came to be. Obese people can also be hyper-critical about who they are and pass judgments that violate their own best interest. Emotions often overrule rationale and shred […]

I am Thankful for Massive Weight Loss

November is traditionally a time to give deeper consideration for all that which we have to be thankful. And I am thankful for massive weight loss because it has given me back my health and my life. Before my gastric bypass in 2003, I had cycled through obesity, anorexia, binge eating disorder, bulimia, and finally morbid obesity. […]

A powder room was redone with a swirling red-and-white wallpaper to mirror the pops of red throughout the rest of the house and filled with burnished brass and gilded furniture topped with classical white objects d'arte in bright whites for a subtle contrast. See fine-jewelry designer Elizabeth Locke's full home tour in "A Stunning Estate with Southern Grace and Italian Romance" over on our Style Guide!Warm orange and creamy white bathroom with white countertop. Gorgeous.I like to use the color Red to warm up a room. Red Parrot from Benjamin Moore was perfect for this master bath in an urban townhouse. I particularly liked the contrast with the cool Calacutta marble and the white Empire soaking tub from Waterworks. Red Parrot is a particular favorite of mine because the claret undertone softens what can be percieved as a strong color.
